About Taryn

Taryn Brown

Taryn not only knows what’s what with today’s marketing trends, but who’s who and how to get things done. Her marketing savvy and business acumen have been honed on more than 20 years of global and cutting edge experience.

As a former marketing executive with Bertelsmann Music Group, Taryn helped launch the careers of major recording artists. She helped generate more than $600 million in sales for MCA, RCA and A&M Records. MCA Records named her "Promotion Manager of the Year" and she is the recipient of 12 multi-platinum and 7 gold sales awards.

Long before brand marketing became the new "buzz word" in the '90's, Taryn created her own buzz by helping to create the Anheuser- Bush "Parade of Stars" television special to benefit the United Negro College Fund. She was creator and executive producer of "Impact with Willis Johnson" a national weekly syndicated African-American television program; created the "Don't Drink and Drive" campaign for the Dallas Council on Alcoholism and worked on corporate campaigns for Coca-Cola and State Farm Insurance.  Such marketing creativity and strategic thinking are at the heart of her rich experience that spans the entertainment, corporate and government sectors.

Taryn worked in corporate communications for AT&T and she handled media relations for Converge Global Trading Exchange, with offices in China, Mexico, Netherlands, Singapore, Japan and Korea.

Taryn has always been part of the political culture.  Her influence crosses party lines.  She has worked on political campaigns with Karen P. Hughes, former Under Secretary for Public Diplomacy and Public Affairs and former counselor to President George W. Bush.   She helped with Congresswoman Eddie Bernice Johnson's successful campaign, "Eddie Walks the District." Taryn and former U.S. Ambassador Ron Kirk were members of the Leadership Dallas program. Her work with the city of Dallas included Intergovernmental Services; the Trinity River 10K, Dallas Water Utilities, groundbreaking for the Santiago Calatrava “Signature Bridge” and the evacuation plan for Hurricanes Katrina and Rita victims.

Taryn has served in leadership roles with various community and philanthropic organizations including: the Dallas Martin Luther King Center Board; the American Heart Association; Rock-the-Vote; Dallas Black Dance Theatre; LifeBeat; African-American Museum; The First Tee and Leonard Jones Minority Junior Golf Foundation.  Dollars & Sense Magazine cited her as one of America's "Up & Coming" Professional Women.  She was recently named to the board of SAPinsight.

Taryn is as confortable in the boardroom as she is on the backcourt.  And her ideas are as winning as her smiles.
